Unlacquered brass and copper are meant to age. With a little care you can enjoy the natural patina, or bring back the shine whenever you like.
Everyday cleaning
- Wipe with a soft cloth and warm water with a drop of mild soap.
- Rinse and dry right away to avoid water spots.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and abrasive pads, which can leave marks.
Bringing back the shine
If you prefer a brighter look, make a paste from lemon juice and baking soda, or use salt and white vinegar. Rub gently with a soft cloth, rinse well and dry. Test on a small hidden area first.
Keeping the patina
To enjoy the aged look, simply keep cleaning gently and let the metal darken naturally. A thin layer of food-safe wax can slow the change if you want a gentler pace.
